There is a company in Nantou Puli that makes materials for paper hats. So Ayaka Nakamura decided to use it as the main material of this exhibition. She thinks the organic form that she makes has the image of a water drop. For her, water is the image of connecting all.

For three years she has visited traditional festivals and museums of indigenous Taiwan. She met the Saisiyat tribe's special hat. Dancing hats ("kilakil") are hats that combine with branches and are 2 meters high. The hat is the place where Dwarf spirits rest. The hat is placed on the head, that connects the heavens and the people. She thinks that the connection with the religion and the culture unique to the local area appears strongly. They are passages of spiritual things and cradles of spirit. It is like a bridge trying to reach the sun, the primordial of life.

She used Nantou's paper to represent a bridge hat that connects the spirit and humans.

Nakamura lives a living life on the journey. She meets with the scenery, culture, food, and people of the land, and local material, then makes forms from that experience.
