Residency Program

Artist-in-residence programs are an out-of-ordinary way for artists to learn and search for inspiration. Through the introduction of professional art and culture organizations, artists get to form unique social relationships with local residents and art communities, as well as nurture their creativity as artists.

Based on craft’s current position and development in contemporary art, coupled with the “made-by-hand” trend in recent years in Taiwan, our research section lists 13 residency programs from North America, Japan, Korea, Australia, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan that dedicate to providing art workers good creating environments, facilities & equipment, technical guidance, and support for local exchanges.

Among the programs are studios for the commonly-seen ceramics and woodwork, as well as professional studios for glass, fabrics & fiber, jewelry & metalwork, ironwork, and other media. As we learn to grasp the current development of craft and the attention craft receives from international and local residency programs, we rethink the contemporary value given by craft and in the meantime introduce art workers who intend to engage in international exchange to these programs.
