HUANG Chien-Lun
生活及創作於臺北,以視覺藝術為範疇,媒材涵括了繪畫、刺繡及軟布塑件等。她的創作專注於自身與當下世界的連結,作品多為貼近個人生命經驗的表達。媒材該如何呈現?也是她對藝術、文化與手工技術的提問及自我辦證。
從成長文化與童年信仰經驗出發,她將個人記憶裡具特殊意義的圖像與事件重新製作。觀眾能透過織縫手法與各種圖像象徵,連結到現下的集體經驗、信仰文化的新想像。這便是她所關注、人類對日常宗教經驗的感覺。乘載私我記憶的符號與圖像,組合為新的集合與詮釋,彷彿也成為一個重新被癒合、藝術家的身體。
2016年至韓國駐村,對她而言是一次創作脈絡中的突起。當地文化、空間及設備的框線與資源,賦予面對過去創作線軸的挑戰,更得以實驗新媒材。駐村影響了她後續創作思維,觀察工藝與藝術彼此間的「模仿」,開發兩者間尚未被定義的模糊界線,是她目前最感興趣的。
Living in Taipei, visual artist Huang Chien-Lun's works range from painting, embroidery, soft sculpture, etc. Huang focuses on her connection with the world in a particular moment, so many of her works reveal Huang's personal life experiences. How to present a medium is a question she has for art, culture, manual techniques, and a way to identify herself.
Huang recreates images and events with special meanings from her childhood, cultural background and beliefs. Through the knitting techniques and different symbols in her works, viewers get to imagine collective experiences and belief cultures of the time. Such are Huang's interpretations of people's religious experiences, which she cares about. Symbols and images bearing her memories are reassembled to make new meanings, and in the process, as an artist, Huang feels the healing power.
The residency experience in Jeonju Museum of Art in Korea 2016 was a turning point in Huang's career. She faced creative challenges from the local culture, studio space, facilities, and resources, and resorted to experimenting new kinds of media. The residency gave her inspirations for later creations. Since then, she has started to observe the mutual "imitation" of craft and art. To Huang, the most intriguing thing at the moment is to find the boundary where craft and art have not been clearly defined yet.
