​黃偉茜

HUANG Wei-Chien

畢業於國立嘉義大學視覺藝術研究所,曾於日本滋賀縣信樂陶藝之森、高雄橋頭糖廠白屋、嘉義鐵道藝術村等多地駐村。作品不強調傳統陶藝的特殊技巧,而是將陶土視為個人情感傳遞的媒介,作品靈感多來自生活經驗。

 

創作中,她時而投入,時而疏離,從不同角度用陶藝創作成長並深化自我。近來和陶土的關係,從年輕時的控制駕馭,慢慢轉化為與陶土合作、協商,想讓作品中「我的自我」與「土的自我」能和諧共存,尊重陶土特性,一如人與自然應有的關係。

 

駐村對她而言是創作生涯中的粉紅泡泡,稀珍、夢幻而脆弱。稀珍,因得來不易,是自身創作有一定能量累積才能得到的機會;夢幻,因執行不易,在現實生活中按下暫停鍵,體驗新鮮異地並全力專注創作,是最大的幸福;脆弱,來自駐村結束,能否將經驗有效提取與轉化?或真如泡泡般緣起緣滅?駐村讓創作實踐,更是創作的引發。

Having received her MA from the Department of Visual Arts, National Chiayi University, Huang has many experiences as a resident artist, at Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Shika Prefecture, Japan, ByWood at Kaohsiung Ciaotou Sugar Refinery, and Art Site of Chiayi Railway Warehouse, etc. Instead of emphasizing traditional ceramic techniques, Huang sees pottery clay as a medium for communicating emotions. Her personal life experiences inspired many of her works.

 

Huang can be immersed or detached while working, which gives her different perspectives and more insights of herself. Recently, Huang's relationship with clay has gradually shifted from controlling the medium, which she did in the early years, into more collaboration and compromise. She believes that the "self" in both clay--the medium--and her as an artist, can co-exist in the creations, and showing respect to clay's properties is like treating the relationship between man and nature as should be.

 

Huang says the residency experiences in her career are like pink bubbles--rare, dream-like, and frangible. Rare, because such opportunities are hard to come by and emerge only when one has accumulated enough creative energy. Dream-like, for the reason that a residency is the pause button of daily routine, allowing one to create in an unfamiliar location with full dedication. Frangible, for the uncertainty of bringing experiences home when a residency ends. Are residence programs really like bubbles? They not only help materialize one's practices, but also trigger creativity.
