​吳竟銍

WU Ching-Chih

2013年於美國安德森牧場中心雕塑工作室駐村。創作領域於金屬工藝、雕塑、琺瑯與首飾設計。吳竟銍試圖找出技術與想法間的平衡,藉由琺瑯的媒材創作,詮釋大眾對於傳統金屬工藝的框架。他的創作游走在首飾與雕塑間,透過細膩的情感表現出來。

 

處於都市之中我們試著與自然共存,看似自然而然的行為,事實上也限制我們的滋長方式。《萬孔集》以天然與人為兩部分呈現自然的生長,在廣大森林中,孕育豐饒的物種,然而這些物種卻必須適應在這氣候想辦法生存,似乎也體現出是否無論如何我們都將會在有所限制的情況下,去找出適合自己的方式?

 

團結與分工是他在駐村中學到的。不同類別如繪畫、雕塑、陶瓷媒材、木工到數位影像,各自有不同的專業,卻能透過「視覺藝術」進行跨域合作與整合。不同國際間的藝評家、博物館策展人與藝廊經紀人等,豐富的文化交流讓他對許多既定想法產生變化,宏觀地開啟對自身創作的想像與嘗試。

Wu was a resident artist at the sculpture studio of Anderson Ranch Arts Center, the U.S. in 2013. His fields range from metal craft, sculpture, enamel, to jewelry design, and he uses enamel to create works to outline the public's imagination of traditional metal craft. Wu also attempts to find the balance between techniques and ideas. Both his jewelry and sculpture pieces manifest delicate emotions.

 

City-dwellers intuitively try to coexist with Mother Nature, but such endeavors may hinder the way people see things. The "Decay in my Garden" project divides growth into two categories: natural and artificial. Vast forests are home to abundant kinds of species, but these creatures must adapt to local climates to survive, which seems to imply that people are always in search of ways best suitable for them.

 

During his residency, Wu learned solidarity and division of labor. Whether it's painting, sculpture, ceramics, woodwork, or digital imaging, different fields require different expertise. However, cross-disciplinary integrations happen when these fields overlap through "visual arts." Wu's frequent cultural exchanges with international art critics, museum curators, and gallery managers have influenced many of his concepts, and given him more imagination to creatively try new things.
